Blog #-1: Introduction

Email: ceh2210@neo.tamu.edu

Class Standing: Senior

Why are you taking this class? As technology continues to permeate through society, I feel that the importance of being able to design effective and efficient interfaces will continue to increase.  Hopefully this class will introduce me to ideas that I can further research and use later in life.

What experience do you bring to this class? Years of studying computer science, coupled with individual projects and peer teaching have been accomplished prior to starting this class.  The peer tutoring has helped me understand that everybody can view the exact same project differently and have different opinions about what would be best for it.

What do you expect to be doing in 10 years?  In 10 years I hope to be settled in to an exciting career, where every day brings a new challenge and new technology.  I would also like to have done some work in other parts of the country, or world, other than Texas.

What do you think will be the next biggest technological advancement in computer science?  I hope that the next big technological advancement will be some sort of new architecture development.  Whether that is in the attainment of molecular logic gates or the introduction of stable quantum computers is too hard to guess, but either would have a fundamental impact on the computer science field and indeed the entire world.

If you could travel back in time, who would you like to meet and why?  I would be honored to meet some of the great inventors that have influenced the world (the computer science world, in particular) such as Vannevar Bush or John Mauchly.

Describe your favorite shoes and why they are your favorite?  My favorite shoes are any Nike+ running shoes.  This is simply because I run frequently and I immensely enjoy the activity, so whenever I wear the shoes I feel like it's time to go out once again.  It's also nice to record your run data and review it later.

If you could be fluent in any foreign language that you're not already fluent in, which one would it be and why?  Although a more practical answer to this question would be Chinese (since it is the most used language on the internet), I would have to go with German.  Part of my family comes from Germany and it would be great to be able to visit where I came from and actually understand the people interacting with me.

Give some interesting fact about yourself: My only swimming disqualification was at the state competition.
